Instructions to Authors

The Jahangirnagar University Journal of Geospatial Science is a peer-reviewed, transdisciplinary journal in the broad field of geospatial applications, published annually in English.
The scope of this journal includes conceptual, theoretical, methodological, and translational innovations on geospatial studies, sciences, management and technologies. Original research papers, full-length reviews and short reviews, short communications, and letters to the editor are welcome on the understanding that they have not been published, submitted, under review, or are being considered for publication elsewhere.
Manuscripts should be written in clear, concise and grammatically correct English (with 12 font size and Times New Roman font style) so that they are intelligible to the professional reader who is not a specialist in any particular field. Manuscripts that do not conform to these requirements
and the following manuscript format may be returned to the author before reviewing for correction. The entire manuscript, including references, should be typed double-spaced on one
side of the paper, with margins of 3 cm on each side. All pages should be numbered consecutively in the bottom center. The word limit of the manuscript should not exceed 6000 words. The manuscript should be presented in the following order.

Title page: Should contain the title (capitalize the first letter of each word in the title) of the contribution and the name(s) and address(es) of the author(s). The full postal address, e-mail
address, telephone number of the author who will receive correspondence and check the proofs should be included, as well as the present address of any author if different from that where the work was carried out. The main title should, where possible, contain the major keywords used in the body of the manuscript.
Author names and affiliations: Please clearly indicate the given name(s) and family name(s) of each author and check that all names are accurately spelled. You can add your name between parentheses in your own script behind the English transliteration. Present the authors' affiliation addresses (where the actual work was done) below the names. Indicate all affiliations with a lower-case superscript letter immediately after the author's name and in front of the appropriate address. Provide the full postal address of each affiliation, including the country name and, if available, the e-mail address of each author.
Corresponding author. Clearly indicate who will handle correspondence at all stages of refereeing and publication, also post-publication. This responsibility includes answering any future queries about Methodology and Materials. Ensure that the e-mail address is given and that contact details are kept up to date by the corresponding author.

Abstract: All manuscripts must include a brief but informative Abstract intelligible without reference to the main text. It should not exceed 250 words and should describe the scope,
hypothesis or rationale for the work and the main findings.
Keywords: Keywords (3-6) should be provided below the Abstract to assist with the indexing of the article. These should not duplicate keywords from the title.

Introduction: This section should include sufficient background information to set the work in context. The aims of the manuscript should be clearly stated. The introduction should not contain either findings or conclusions.

Materials and Methods: This section should be concise but provide sufficient detail to allow the work to be repeated by others.

Results: Results should be presented in a logical sequence in the text, tables and figures; repetitive presentation of the same data in different forms should be avoided. The results should not contain material appropriate to the Discussion.

Discussion: This section should consider the results in relation to any hypotheses advanced in the Introduction and place the study within the context of other relevant work. Only in exceptional cases should the Results and Discussion sections be combined.

Conclusions: A summary of the work along with recommendations, should be included in this section.

Acknowledgments: The source of financial grants and other funding must be acknowledged, including a frank declaration of the authors' industrial links and affiliations.
Formatting of funding sources: List funding sources in this standard way to facilitate compliance with funders' requirements: 
Funding: This work was supported by the National Institutes of Health [grant numbers xxxx, yyyy]; the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation, Seattle, WA [grant number zzzz]; and the United States Institute of Peace [grant number aaaa].
It is not necessary to include detailed descriptions of the program or type of grants and awards.
When funding is from a block grant or other resources available to a university, college, or other research institution, submit the name of the institute or organization that provided the funding. If no funding has been provided for the research, it is recommended to include the following sentence: This research did not receive any specific grant from funding agencies in the public, commercial, or not-for-profit sectors.

References: Citation in text: Please ensure that every reference cited in the text is also present in the reference list (and vice versa). Any references cited in the abstract must be given in full. Unpublished results and personal communications are not recommended in the reference list but may be mentioned in the text. If these references are included in the reference list, they should follow the standard reference style of the journal and include a substitution of the publication date with either the year or the month and year. Citation of a reference as in press implies that the item has been accepted for publication.

Reference style:
Text: All citations in the text should refer to:
1. Single author: the authors name (without initials, unless there is ambiguity) and the year of publication;
2. Two authors: both authors; names and the year of publication;
3. Three or more authors: first author's name followed by and the year of publication.

Citations may be made directly (or parenthetically). Groups of references should be listed first alphabetically, followed by a chronological order.
Examples as demonstrated (Allan, 2000a, 2000b, 1999; Allan and Jones, 1999). Kramer et al. (2010) have recently shown;

List: References should be arranged first alphabetically and then further sorted chronologically if necessary. More than one reference from the same author(s) in the same year must be identified by the letters placed after the year of publication.

Web references: As a minimum, the full URL should be given, and the date when the reference was last accessed. Any further information, if known (DOI, author names, dates, reference to a source publication, etc.), should also be given. Unpublished results can be cited in the main text but no need to list them up in the reference list.
Tables. Tables should be self-contained and complement, but not duplicate, the information contained in the text. The table and its legend/footnotes should be understandable without reference to the text.
Figures. Only scientifically necessary illustrations should be included. All illustrations (line drawings and photographs) are classified as figures. Figures should be cited in consecutive order in the text. Graphics should be supplied as high resolution (at least 300 dpi.) electronic files, saved as .eps or .tif format. Authors have to bear the cost of color printing. Review, Charges and Reprints. Reviewer’s comments will be sent via e-mail as an Acrobat PDF (Portable Document Format)/ .docx file and should be returned within 7 days of receipt. The editor keeps the right to cancel any delay submitted manuscript. Soft copy (pdf) of the journal will be provided to the corresponding author after the publication.
Submission Guidelines: The manuscript should be submitted as an email attachment to the Editorial Office at irsgis@juniv.edu mentioning new manuscript submission in the subject areas. The manuscript should be submitted by 30 May 2023 for publishing in Volume 1.
