Author Guidelines

Aim and Scope
The Journal of Journalism and Media Studies publishes research-oriented papers, photo essays, and critical reviews on media, journalism, communication, and related fields. We welcome innovative and rigorous contributions that advance the understanding of these subjects.

Manuscript Submission

  • Abstract: Each submission must include an abstract of no more than 200 words.
  • Manuscript Length:
    • Research Papers: Should not exceed 5000 words, including references, tables, and figures.
    • Photo Essays: Should not exceed 1000 words and may include up to 10 photos.
    • Reviews: Should not exceed 1500 words. This includes critical reviews of films, recently published books, or other media-related content.
  • Formatting and Style: All manuscripts must adhere to the APA (7th edition) style for citations and references. Use a standard font (e.g., Times New Roman, 12-point), double-spacing, and 1-inch margins.
  • Cover Page: Include a separate cover sheet with the title of the manuscript, the names of all authors, their affiliations, and contact information. This information should not be included in the main document to maintain the integrity of the double-blind review process.
  • Figures and Tables: Should be placed within the text at the appropriate points, not at the end of the document.
  • Conflict of Interest: Authors must disclose any financial or personal relationships that could influence (or be perceived to influence) their work. A Conflict of Interest statement should be included on the cover page and within the manuscript following the conclusion section.
  • Ethical Standards: Manuscripts must adhere to ethical standards in research and publication. Authors should ensure that their work complies with the ethical guidelines set by their institution and relevant governing bodies. Any research involving human subjects or animals must have been approved by an appropriate ethics committee and should include a statement within the manuscript confirming this approval.
  • Funding Information: Authors should disclose all sources of funding for their research. Acknowledgment of funding sources should be included in a separate section at the end of the manuscript, before the references.
  • Permissions: Authors have obtained necessary permissions for any third-party material included in the manuscript.
  • Originality: The submission has not been previously published, nor is it under consideration by another journal.
  • File Format: The manuscript is submitted as a Microsoft Word document (.doc or .docx).
  • Submission Process: All submissions should be made through the submission portal. Email submissions will not be accepted. Submissions are accepted throughout the year.

Review Process
All submissions undergo a double-blind peer-review process. Each manuscript is reviewed by at least two anonymous reviewers. The editorial team will communicate decisions and feedback within three months of submission.

Post-Acceptance
Authors of accepted papers will receive proofs for review. Corrections should be returned within the specified timeframe. The final decision on publication lies with the editorial board.
